The Saga of Ref the Sly : ウィキペディア英語版 | The Saga of Ref the Sly
The Saga of Ref the Sly takes place from 950-1050, although it seems the story lacks much historical basis based upon the timeline used. Although probably first recorded between 1350-1400, the only remaining complete manuscript is dated to the later half of the fifteenth century. The saga takes place over much of the Viking world, beginning in Iceland, and continuing on in Greenland, Norway, and Denmark. Unlike many of the other Icelandic sagas, which often revolve around Christian ideals, this saga seems to be one that was created mainly for pure enjoyment. == Character Analysis == The saga revolves around the life of a master craftsman named Ref, later given the name Ref the Sly by King Harald. Ref is far different than the usual saga hero, and is described early in story as being a lazy, useless coward. Throughout the saga we see Ref transform into a character that uses both brain and brawn to protect himself and his family. Unlike the aggressive and impulsive heroes of other sagas, Ref knows how to wait until the perfect time to get what he wants.
